Ballet is one of the most rewarding forms of movement one can experience. Whether you’re brand new to the world of ballet, or you’re rediscovering the joy of dance and looking for ballet classes in Vancouver to jump back in, The Landing Dance Centre has classes to help you learn and grow your or your child’s talent and nurture your passion.
But while we welcome dancers of all skill levels and backgrounds, it’s important to find the class that most appropriately aligns with your or your child’s current abilities. We can help you determine which classes are the best fit if you need more information than what we explore below.
Preschool classes
Sometimes, it’s clear at an early age that your child has a love for movement. Our preschool ballet classes were designed to help little ones pursue a fun, energetic hobby, and to help them develop the right foundation for a rewarding future in ballet if they continue. Our instructors gently introduce your toddler to the basics of ballet, including physical coordination, finding rhythm, and interacting and dancing with a group. Our baby ballet classes are for children ages two and up; ballet and tap for ages three to five; and hip hop for ages three to four.
General classes
These classes are designed for those who want to pursue their passion just for the fun of it. Each class is genre-specific, which enables dancers to explore which type of dance speaks to them the most while helping them develop proper structure, preparedness, technique, progression, and working with a team.
General classes include:
- Acro
- Ballet
- Contemporary dance
- Hip hop
- Jazz
- Tap
Adult classes
Sometimes the love of dance hits us later in life or reemerges after years apart. That’s why we’re happy to offer adult classes each Wednesday. These classes give curious adults the chance to develop their skills from our experts who help them advance at their own pace, whether they’re interested in tap or hip hop classes.
ISTD classes
We’re proud to offer students from ages five to 18 the chance to properly develop their technical training in Imperial Classical Ballet through our ISTD classes in Vancouver. While some of our other classes are designed to deliver the skills and foundations dancers need to pursue a more casual dance experience, our ISTD classes are for those who are determined to put in the effort and time it takes to achieve excellence in Imperial Classical Ballet. They begin by enrolling in one class per week, and then work their way up to a more rigorous schedule of three classes per week.
Before students enroll, they are welcome to come and take a placement class. These classes are for dancers of all ages and abilities and are an audition for either our ISTD Ballet or ISTD Modern programs.
